Experiment was conducted in the green house of Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University, Bandung, from September 1997 to February 1998. Soil samples were taken from Pondok Meja, Jambi Province. The experimental design used was a 4 factorial pattern, in randomized block design (RDB) with three replications. The first factor was phosphate (P) rate consisted of four levels i.e. 0 kg ha-1 P2O5, 30 kg ha-1 P2O5 (0.67 g pot-1), 60 kg ha-1 P2O5 (1.34 9 pot-1), 90 kg ha-1 P2O5 (2.01 g pot-1); and second factor was potassium rate consisted of four levels i.e. 0 kg ha-1 K2O, 25 kg ha-1 (0.18 g pot-1), 50 kg ha-1 K2O (0.35 g pot-1), 75 kg ha-1 K2O (0.53 g pot-1 ). Results of experiment showed that no interaction occurred between P and K fertilizer on available P. total P. exchangeable K, total K, soil pH, soil CEC, P and K uptake, and seed dry weight. P fertilizer affected significantly available P, soil pH, soil CEC, P-Uptake, K-Uptake, and seed dry weight, whereas K fertilizer affected significantly exchangeable K and K-Uptake. The optimum P fertilizer was 51.46 kg ha-1 (1.15 g pot-1 SP 36) with maximum dry seed weight 23.88 g pot-1.
