Abstrak

Pengaruh Dukungan Keluarga Terhadap Kualitas Hidup Pasien Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2 : Telaah Literatur – A Literature Review : The Effect Of Family Support On Quality Of Life Of Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

Latar Belakang: Angka kejadian Diabetes Mellitus (DM) Tipe 2 di dunia terus meningkat setiap tahun. Empat pilar dasar dalam manajemen pasien DM tipe 2 yaitu modifikasi diet, aktivitas fisik, terapi pengobatan dan pemeriksaan gula darah secara teratur. Manajemen DM tipe 2 ini memerlukan waktu yang sangat lama yang membuat sebagian besar pasien menjadi tidak patuh. Ketidakpatuhan dalam Manajemen DM tipe 2 ini dapat menyebabkan komplikasi mikrovaskular dan makrovaskular yang pada akhirnya menurunkan kualitas hidup pasien DM Tipe 2. Salah satu faktor yang sangat diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien DM tipe 2 adalah dukungan keluarga.

Tujuan: Telaah literatur ini bertujuan untuk menelaah artikel penelitian yang meneliti tentang pengaruh dukungan keluarga terhadap pasien DM tipe 2.
Metode: Artikel dikumpulkan dari jurnal-jurnal elektronik dari EBSCOHost, ProQuest, PubMed, dan studi pustaka, menggunakan kata kunci dukungan keluarga, kualitas hidup, dan diabetes mellitus tipe 2. Kriteria inklusinya adalah artikel diterbitkan antara 1998-2014 dan ditemukan 6 artikel yang berhubungan dengan kata kunci.

Hasil: Dukungan keluarga mempunyai pengaruh positif terhadap kualitas hidup pasien DM Tipe 2.

Diskusi dan Kesimpulan: Telaah literatur ini menunjukkan bahwa dukungan keluarga dapat membantu pasien DM Tipe 2 untuk meningkatkan kepercayaan dirinya dalam melakukan self care. Pasien yang memiliki dukungan keluarga yang baik akan mempunyai perasaan yang nyaman yang dapat meningkatkan motivasi mereka untuk patuh terhadap manajemen DM Tipe 2 dan pada akhirnya kualitas hidup mereka meningkat. Hasil temuan ini memberikan wawasan kepada perawat untuk dapat meningkatkan dukungan keluarga pasien DM tipe 2 dengan pendidikan kesehatan pada keluarga.

Background: Incidence rate of people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in the world continuous to increase every year. Managements of Type 2 DM are dietary modification, physical activity, medication theraphy and monitoring blood sugar. These managements need a very long time that make most of patients doesn’t compliance. Non-compliance in the management of Type 2 DM can cause both microvascular and macrovascular complications that led to the decline in the quality of life of patients with Type 2 DM. A factor that needed to improve the quality of life of patients with Type 2 DM is family support.

Aim: This literature review aim to review studies that have investigated the effect of family support on quality of life of patients with Type 2 DM.

Method: Articles were collected through electronic database from EBSCOHost, ProQuest, PubMed, and science direct using keywords Family Support, Quality of Life, and Type 2 DM. The inclusion criteria were articles published between 1998-2014 and found 6 articles related to keywords.

Result Findings: This literature review showed that family support helped patients with Type 2 DM to improve their confidence in the ability to self care. Patients with good family support will have a comfortable feeling that can increase the motivation to compliance the management of Type 2 DM, and ultimately the quality of life of patients with Type 2 DM will increase.

Conclusion: Family support has positive effect to quality of life of patients with Type 2 DM. The role of nurses is to improve family support with education and empowerment in management of Type 2 DM.
