Tujuan utama dari tesis ini adalah menyusun suatu instrumen yang mengukur profil gaya regulasi motivasi Regulation Styles, yaitu: Non-Regulation, External, Introjected, Identified, Integrated, dan Intrinsic Regulation berdasarkan Self-Determination Theory (SDT; Deci & Ryan, 2000). Instrumen ini juga mengukur Relative Autonomy Index (RAI) yaitu skor yang memprediksikan tingkat otonomi seseorang. Terdiri atas 94 item yang sahih dan andal, yang diperoleh melalui proses content validity, construct validity (analisis faktor), koefisien reliabilitas alpha Cronbach, dan analisis item (Ą > 0.7 untuk setiap Regulation Styles). Pelatihan Motivasi Studi Mahasiswa dirancang khusus bagi kelompok ini bermaksud menjelaskan pentingnya tujuan pribadi, pemaknaan tujuan, dan komitmen terhadap tujuan pribadi. Rancangan intervensi diuji melalui singlegroup, pre-test post-test studies (Graziano & Raulin, 2000) dan dievaluasi melalui data alat ukur pre dan post-test. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test memperlihatkan penurunan yang signifikan pada skor Non-Regulation dan External Regulation; dan kenaikan yang signifikan pada Identified, Integrated, dan Intrinsic Regulation (taraf kepercayaan 95%).

The main purpose of this study is to construct an instrument to measure motivation based on Regulation Styles of the Self-Determination Theory (SDT; Deci & Ryan, 2000). It measures the Regulation Styles profile: Non-Regulation, External, Introjected, Identified, Integrated, and Intrinsic Regulation; and the Relative Autonomy Index (RAI), a summary score which predicts the autonomy level of an individual. The instrument consists of 94 valid and reliable items. These items were acquired through the process of content validity, construct validity (factor analysis), Cronbach’s alpha coefficient reliability, and item analysis (each Regulation Styles has got ƒÑ > 0.7). A student motivation training intervention was designed for a specific group to explain the importance of personal goals, conscious valuing, and commitment to goals. This intervention design was tested using single-group, pre-test post-test studies (Graziano & Raulin, 2000) and evaluated by obtaining pre and post-test data. The Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test showed significant decrease in the Non-Regulation and External Regulation; and significant increase in Identified, Integrated, and Intrinsic Regulation scores (sig. 0.05).
