Dedak padi banyak terdapat di perdesaan. Bahan pakan ini mengandung fitat yang tinggi dan dapat mengikat Kadmium (Cd). Penelitian bertujuan untuk mempelajari pengaruh penggunaan dedak padi dalam ransum ayam lokal yang diberi air minum mengandung cemaran Cd terhadap performans. Dua puluh empat ekor ayam lokal digunakan dalam penelitian ini dengan bobot 422,08 ± 38,78 g. Dedak padi digunakan dalam ransum sebanyak 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50% selama 8 minggu. Air minum diberikan ad libitum mengandung 100 mg/L Cd. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan memberikan perbedaan yang tidak nyata (P>0,05) terhadap performans. Kadmium dalam air minum belum mengganggu fisologi dan metabolisme dalam tubuh selama 8 minggu penelitian. Kesimpulan, dedak padi dapat digunakan sebagai pakan sampai 50%, dan konsumsi air minum yang mengandung 100 mg/L Cd selama 8 minggu belum mempengaruhi performans ayam lokal.

Rice bran is commonly found high in rural area. It is containing a high level of phytate. This compound can bind Cadmium (Cd). The purpose of this study was to know the effect of rice bran in native chick diet given drinking water containing Cd on performance. Twenty four of native male chick was allocated in the experiments with weight of 422,08 ± 38,78 g. Rice bran have been used in diet at 0, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50% for 8 weeks. Drinking water was given unlimited containing 100 mg/L Cd. Results indicated that those treatments had no significant (P>0,05) on performance. Cadmium in drinking water had no affect on fisiology and metabolism until 8 weeks. It was concluded that 50% rice bran in diet could be used as feed. Consumption of drinking water containing 100 mg/L Cd during 8 weeks did not influence performance on native chick.
