Priangan Abad Ke-19 Tinjauan Sejarah Dan Demografi

Priangan as a geographical area historically is a continuity of kingdoms of Sumedanglarang and Pajajaran. While administratively Priangan as a residency was formed in the period of Raffless (1811 – 1816). Nevertheless Priangan as a name already existed in the 16th century; and Priangan as a name of geographical area has appeared since 1620 when Pangeran Suriadiwangsa, the last king of Sumedanglarang kingdom, surrendered to Mataram Sultanate. Demographically, before the 19th century the population of Keresidenan Priangan was low relatively. However, throughout the 19th century the population of Keresidenan Priangan had increased significantly. It indicated high birth rate, low mortality, and high in-migration.
