Suatu penelitian untuk menelaah pengaruh limbah kulit buah kakao sebagai kompos ,kascing dan kotoran ayam terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kakao (Theobroma cacao L) kultivar Upper Amazone Hybrid telah dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Padjadjaran Jatinangor mulai bulan Februari 2005 sampai dengan bulan September 2005. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK). Adapun perlakuannya adalah A = kompos 1,25 kg per polibeg (3 bagian tanah : 1 bagian kompos);B = kompos 1,67 kg per polibeg (2 bagian tanah : 1 bagian kompos);C = kompos 2,51 kg per polibeg (1 bagian tanah : 1 bagian kompos);D = kascing 1,25 kg per polibeg (3 bagian tanah : 1 bagian kascing);E = kascing 1,67 kg per polibeg (2 bagian tanah : 1 bagian kascing);F = kascing 2,51 kg per polibeg (1 bagian tanah : 1 bagian kascing);G = kotoran ayam 1,25 kg per polibeg (3 bagian tanah : 1 bagian kotoran ayam);H = kotoran ayam 1,67 kg per polibeg (2 bagian tanah : 1 bagian kotoran ayam);I = kotoran ayam 2,51 kg per polibeg (1 bagian tanah : 1 bagian kotoran ayam). Terdapat 9 perlakuan yang diulang 3 kali menghasilkan 9 x 3 = 27 satuan percobaan. Setiap satuan percobaan terdiri dari 5 tanaman. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat perbedaan yang nyata pengaruh kompos kulit buah kakao, kascing dan kotoran ayam terhadap LTR, LAB, NLD, NPA, tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, jumlah daun, bobot kering akar, bobot kering batang+daun, dan bobot kering total tanaman bibit kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) Kultivar Upper Amazone Hybrid (UAH). Tidak terdapat dosis optimum kompos kulit buah kakao yang memberikan pengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan bibit kakao. Secara umum, perlakuan kascing 2,51 g per polibeg mampu memberikan nilai rata-rata tertinggi dan nyata mempengaruhi jumlah daun (umur 7, 10, 13 MST), bobot kering akar (umur 10 MST), dan bobot kering total tanaman (umur 10 MST).
Application of Cacao Pods as Bioactive Compost , Casting and chicken manure on Growth of Cacao Seedlings (Theobroma cacao L.) Upper Amazone Hybrid (UAH) Cultivar. An experiment to evaluate the effect of cacao pods waste as bioactive compost, casting and chicken manure on on Growth of Cacao Seedlings (Theobroma cacao L.) Upper Amazone Hybrid (UAH) Cultivar was conducted at the Agricultural Experiment Station, Padjadjaran University, Jatinangor, from January until July 2005. The design of the experiment was randomized block design. There were nine treatmens : Each treatment for a polybag were contained : A = compost 1.25 kg, B = compost 1,67 kg, C = compost 2,50 kg, D = casting 1,25 kg , E = 1,67 kg casting, F = castings 2,51 kg, G = chicken manure 1,25 kg, H = chicken manure 1,67 kg, I = chicken manure 2,50 kg. The treatment was replicated three times, so there were 27 treatmens. Each treatment consisted 5 plants. The result of the experiment showed that compost, casting and chicken manure were not gave effect on LTR, LAB, NLD, NPA, plant height, stem diameter, leave count, root dry weight, stem weight, and total dry weight. Casting 2,50 kg per polybag gave the best effect on leave count (7, 10, 13 MST), root dry weight (10 MST) and total dry weight (10 MST).
