Manufacturing sector is one sector that is important for economic development. This sector is often chosen as fulcrums in regional development. One of the benefits provided by this sector is employment creation. The objective of this study is to understand and analyze the role of manufacturing employment creation on poverty alleviation in Central Java. The descriptive and econometric analyses were used to find out the linkage between manufacturing employment creation and other factors on poverty by applying data provided by BPS. This study uses panel data with random-effect method. The results provides evidence that manufacturing employment creation, economic growth and education were able to lowered poverty significantly. Otherwise, population growth plays some role in raising poverty. Based on the findings, some policies need to be taken to lower the poverty. Manufacturing sector need to be accelerated, especially the labor-intensive one. Economic growth must be able to reach out to the poor. Equitable access to education needed to raise the human capital. Last, population growth need to be controlled by focusing on those poor people in the community
