Komunikasi Keluarga Pada Pasangan Commuter Marriage (Studi Kasus Komunikasi Keluarga Pada Pasangan Commuter Marriage Di Kota Bandung)

Roy Robert Rondonuwu, M.Lib. Pasangan commuter marriage saat ini dapat ditemui di mana saja, termasuk di kota Bandung. Pasangan commuter marriage adalah pasangan suami istri yang menjalani hubungan jarak jauh di mana salah satu pasangan berdomisili di kota berbeda dan pulang kembali ke Bandung pada waktu tertentu saja. Dengan adanya perkembangan teknologi, komunikasi pada pasangan ini dapat tetap terjalin dengan adanya komunikasi dengan menggunakan media. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini ingin mengetahui bagaimana komunikasi keluarga pada pasangan commuter marriage di kota Bandung. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif, dengan menggunakan metode penelitian studi kasus. Data dari informan didapatkan dari empat pasangan commuter marriage dengan menggunakan tehnik pengamatan, dan wawancara mendalam. Teori yang menjadi landasan dari penelitian ini adalah teori interaksi simbolik. Hasil dari penelitian ini didapat bahwa (1) rutinitas komunikasi pasangan commuter marriage terdiri dari beberapa aspek diantaranya: (a) para pasangan commuter marriage memiliki keragaman dalam menggunakan waktu untuk berkomunikasi; (b) konten komunikasi yang umumnyya dibicarakan oleh pasangan commuter marriage adalah anak-anak, urusan rumah tangga, pekerjaan dan permasalahan di antara pasangan itu sendiri; (c) penggunaan media pada pasangan commuter marriage cukup beragam, diantara telepon, telepon genggam dan komputer atau lap top. Selain itu, media berbasis internet digunakan juga oleh beberapa pasangan commuter marriage diantaranya penggunaan fasilitas web cam dan juga sosial media. (2) Hambatan-hambatan komunikasi yang terjadi pada pasangan commuter marriage berupa hambatan yang sifatnya teknis dan hambatan non-teknis. (3) Ketika menghadapi masalah maka pasangan commuter marriage mengkomunikasikannya melalui komunikasi dengan media dan komunikasi tatap muka. (4) Penggunaan media berpengaruh pada kulitas komunikasi keluarga pasangan commuter marriage karena media menjadi syarat terjadinya komunikasi keluarga pada pasangan tersebut. (5) Dampak komunikasi hubungan commuter marriage terhadap komunikasi keluarga pasangan tersebut, diantaranya: (a) perubahan perilaku suami ketika berada di Bandung; (b) istri mampu mengkomunikasikan permasalahan keluarga ketika suami tidak berada di rumah; (c) penerapan aturan-aturan pada anak menjadi longgar ketika suami berada di rumah.

Commuter marriage couple is a spouse that one of the spouse is located in different place, in which the spouse visits the family at certain time. The growth of development of communication technology helps the communication between this couple. So that, theirs communication can be tied because of the invention of mediated communication. Therefore, this research wants to describe the family communication of commuter marriage couples in Bandung. This research is carried out using the qualitative approach with case study as the research method. The data is compiled by obervasing and in-depth interviewing four commuter marriage couples. The interactional symbolic is used as the theoritical foundation of this research. The results of the reseach are (1) communication routines of commuter marriage couple is contained of some aspects, that is (a) commuter marriage couples have diversity in time usage of communication; (b) the common content communication of commuter marriage couples are about children, household’s problem, job’s problem, the own problem of the couples; (c) the media usage of the commuter marriage couples are quite diverse, that is telephone, handphone, PC or Lap Top. Besides thet, internet mediated communication is used by some of the couples, such as, the usage of web cam and also social media. (2) the obstacles communication of commuter marriage couples are tend to be technically pobstacles and non-technically obstacles. (3) when the commuter marriage couples facing their problems they tend to solve the problems by using mediated communication or face to face communincation depends on what hte problems are. (4) The media usage weighs on commuter marriage couples family communications because of the media becomes the requirements of communication itself. (5) the impact of commuter marriage relationship on theirs family communication are (a) changing of commnication behavior of the husband when they visit their family; (b) the wife ables to communicate the family problems when the husband is not available; (c) the application of the rules on their children become loose when the husband is available at the house.
