Background: Bangka district, Bangka-Belitung Island Province is one of middle malaria endemic areas in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to describe the epidemiology of malaria cases among migrant workers in Bangka district, Bangka-Belitung Island province, Indonesia, during a 2-year period. Methods: Descriptive study with using secondary data was conducted using all reported malaria cases maintained by Bangka district Health office, Bangka-Belitung Island Province-Indonesia, for the period 2011-2012. Result: Malaria was found dominant among male migrant workers and productive age group. Plasmodium falciparum was more common among migrant workers than plasmodium vivax. Moreover, the main transmission vectors were Anopheles Sundaicus which breed in coastal area. Conclusion: Malaria transmission is a remaining health problem in Bangka district. One of problem is malaria among migrant workers which is a potential threat outbreak in mine area. So this is the important for district health office both of home land and work destination to develop strategy for control malaria diseases.
