Chromium, composting, waste leather industry
Chromium presence in the waste produced by leather processing may generate a serious problem to the environment when it is not treated accordingly. Composting has proven to be one of alternative solution. Therefore, it is beneficial to the environment. The experiments on” The Effect of Composting on Chromium Content In The Waste of Leather Processing In The Industry of Leather Tanning In Sukaregang, Garut” have been conducted using Completely Random Design, with three treatments that were C/N ratio of 20, 25 and 30. Each treatment was replicated five times. Results of this experiments indicated that Cr, N, P and K content was not significantly different amongst treatments. The lowest chromium content (6.07 ppm) was resulted from C/N ratio of 25. Whereas, the highest content of N (0,34%), P (0.21%) and K (0.13 %) was resulted from C/N ratio of 25.
