This study aimed to determine the effect of CBT in reducing the degree of symptoms of depression in patients with post-stroke. The design of this study was quasi-experimental study involving two subject obtained through purposive sampling technique. Data obtained by using interviews, observations and questionnaires. The questionnaire used was the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) to measure the symptoms of depression with BDI range is 14-19. CBT is given seven sessions within 45-90 minutes each session. Measurements were performed twice, before and after the intervention was given. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques and descriptive analysis. The results showed that the effect of CBT in reducing the degree of symptoms of depression in study subject, which is characterized by decreasing negative emotions after stroke symptoms, increasing motivation to improve health conditions and decreased physical complaints on the Subject. After about a month of intervention (CBT) is given, Subject to maintain the results of intervention studies, namely the cognitive and behavioral changes that effect in reducing the symptoms of depression post-stroke.
