Indonesian Workers Health Condition: A Sociological Analysis

This chapter explains on the Indonesian migrant workers especially on the socio-cultural differences between local workers in regards with health condition. The socio-cultural differences involve physical environment, social and cultures. This is a case study of migrant workers from Desa Peuteuy Condong in Saudi Arabia. The differences on these three aspects totally influence towards the workers health, in relation with their job condition. Further, social economic status between the workers and employers, have also become a big issue to their mental health. The big gap on the culture is emerge due to the differences Arabian are disposed to introvert and over protected, that make workers are not freely to accesses health services. Therefore, some issues are also rise in the adaptation process whether physically, socially and culturally. Physically, adaptation are related with the climate and job responsibility. While socially are conducted by understanding the family environment, house condition, families characteristic, and their habitually. Their also face cultural problem such as ethics, values or norms in society, dressed rules, attitudes and behavior of family members and other people where they works, as well as foods.
