Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memerikan tradisi transformasi budaya di pesantren. Untuk mencapai tujuan ini digunakan pendekatan eklektika analisis wacana kritis (AWK)-Fungsional. Penyediaan data dilakukan dengan metode survei, wawancara, dan kuosioner. Hasil penelitian ini adalah terdeskripsikan Transformasi Budaya Pesantren (TBP). Pertama, konsep dan metode sorogan sebagai transformasi budaya pesantren tradisional. Kedua, konsep dan metode ḥalqah sebagai transformasi budaya pesantren modern. Ketiga, struktur kitab-kitab sesuai visi dan misi pesantren tersebut. Simpulan, konsep TBP adalah belajar ilmu agama secara mendalam, tersistematis, dan terprogram. Adapun metode TBP adalah talaqqiyan fikriyyan, yaitu pertemuan murid dengan guru untuk mempelajari kitab-kitab.

The research aims to describe the cultural transformations of Islamic boarding schools (CTIBS) in West Java, Indonesia. An eclectic approach of critical-functional discourse analysis was chosen. The objects of the research were discources on cultural transformations at Islamic Boarding Schools. Data were collected through surveys, interviews, and questionnaires. The results of the research are first, sorogan was the cultural transformation of traditional Islamic boarding schools in the teaching process, while the modern Islamic boarding schools adopted ḥalqah. Second, the concept of sorogan was learning Islamic studies from yellow books. Third, the structures of yellow books in the Islamic boarding schools were aligned with the visions and missions. The conclusion is that the concept of CTIBS is to learn the science of religion thoroughly, sistematically, and in line with the scheduled programs. The method of CTIBS is talaqqiyan fikriyyan, meetings between the learner and the teacher to learn the books.
