Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian probiotik (Starbact) terhadap kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan benih ikan koi (cyprinus carpio). Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Hatchery Ciparanje Fakultas Perikanan dan Ilmu Kelautan, Universitas Padjadjaran. Penelitian berlangsung pada bulan 20 April sampai 24 Mei 2013. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari 5 perlakuan dan 5 kali ulangan, perlakuan tersebut adalah pemberian probiotik sebanyak 0 ml/L, 0,9 ml/L, 1 ma; 1,1 ml/L, dan 1,2 ml/L. Parameter yang diamati adalah kelangsungan hidup, pertumbuhan, dan kualitas air. Analisis data kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan menggunakan analisis sidik ragam ANOVA dan uji jarak berganda Duncan pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian konsentrasi probiotik tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap kelangsungan hidup benih ikan koi, namun memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap pertumbuhan benih ikan koi. Konsentrasi probiotik sebesar 1 ml/L menghasilkan kelangsungan hidup dan pertumbuhan yang tertinggi masing-masing sebesar 98:67% dan 0,67%, sedangkan konsentrasi probiotik yang optimum sebesar 0,69 ml/L.
The purpose of this research was to find out the effect of probiotic (Starbact) upon survival rate and growth of koi fingerling. This research was implemented at the Hatchery Ciparanje Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Padjadjaran University. The research took place on 20 April until 24 May 2013. The method of research was an experimental method with completely randomized design that consist of 5 treatments and 5 replications, the treatment were probiotic administration of 0 ml/L. 0.9 ml/L, 1 ml/L, 1.1 ml/L. and 1.2 ml/L. Parameters measured were survival rate, growth, and quality of water. Analysis of survival rate and growth of fish was analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and difference between treatment were analyzed with Duncan’s multiple range test with confidence level of 5%. The results showed addition of probiotics did not have a significant influence on the survival of koi fingerling, but have a significantly influenced on the growth of koi fingerling. The concentration of probiotics was in the amount of 1 ml/L. that produced the highest survival rate and growth, which were respectively 98.67% and 0.67%, while the optimum concentration of probiotics are 0.69 ml/L.
