Deteksi Dini Ketidakseimbangan Otot Orofasial Pada Anak – Early Detection Of Orofacial Muscle Imbalance In Children

Fungsi otot orofasial berperan penting dalam pembentukan oklusi yang ideal pada masa pertumbuhan anak. Otot orofasial yang dapat mempengaruhi perkembangan oklusi gigi adalah otot lidah, masseter dan buccinator, serta orbicularis oris. Triangular Force Concept merupakan konsep keseimbangan antara ketiga otot tersebut. Deteksi dini adanya ketidakseimbangan ketiga otot tersebut dapat mencegah terjadinya maloklusi pada anak. Makalah ini akan membahas etiologi pola penelanan dan ketidakseimbangan otot orofasial beserta deteksi dininya pada anak.

Orofacial muscle function play an important role in the development of ideal occlusion during a child’s growth and development period. Orofacial muscle that may affect the development of dental occlusion are tongue, masseter and buccinator, and orbicularis oris. There is a concept of equilibrium of the three muscles mentioned above which is called Triangular Force Concept. Early detection of there muscle imbalance may prevent the occurance of nalocclusion in children. This paper will discuss the etiology of swallowing pattern and orofacial muscle imbalance along with its early detection in children.
