The face and head of beta major thalassemia patients show a typical form known as facies Cooley or facies thalassemia. The changes in beta major thalassemia patient bones that are caused by bone marrow hyperplasia. While the bone abnormalities happen mostly due to the erythroid marrow hypertrophy and expansion that leads to widen bone marrow, thin cortex and osteoporosis. This paper is intended to overview the differences of bone structure between normal and thalaassemia beta major patient especially in anatomical and histologycal of the bone. The excessive malar bone grow due to the erythroid marrow expansion creates prominent cheeks and deep nasal bone. Growth and development of thalassemia beta major patients show several differences compared to normal. Extensive erytrhropoiesis process was the main caused of the pathological situation. It may be concluded that there are many differences of bone structure in thalassemia beta major patient, so the pediatric dentist should be aware when the patient wants to treat the teeth and the result of treatment depends on the frequency of transfusion.
