Abstrak

Potensi Lahan Pengembangan Ubi Cilembu Di Kabupaten Sumedang

Cilembu sweet potato is mainstay and specially commodity in Sumedang. Now, sustainabIility of cilembu sweet potato farming threatened by land conversion to non agricultural uses. In other side, market demand increasing time by time. There for, need to know land potential of cilembu sweet potato cultivation that can be developed for cilembu sweet potato farm expansion. This research based of land physical aspect only. Method of this research is land suitability evaluation spesified for Cilembu sweet potato land use and geographical information system analysis for spatial distribution of potential cilembu sweet potato land use.

Result of this research shown majority of potential land use for cilembu sweet potato farming extension is 38.035 Ha or 82,4% of total study area. Majority suitability classes of that land have limiting factors as folow: low land fertility, low root condition, and erosion hazard. The increasing effort by increaseing input and technology can surpass limiting the factors.
