Kromium dalam Limbah industri kulit dapat menjadi masalah bagi lingkungan hidup apabila tidak dikelola dengan benar. Pengomposan merupakan salah satu alternatif pengolahan Lumpur limbah industri penyamakan kulit sehingga bermanfaat bagi lingkungan. Penelitian tentang ” Pengaruh Pengomposan Terhadap Kandungan Kromium Dalam Lumpur Limbah Industri Penyamakan Kulit Sukaregang Garut” telah dilakukan secara eksperimental di laboratorium menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan tiga perlakuan nisbah C/N 20, 25 dan 30 dengan ulangan lima kali. Untuk mengetahui pengaruh perlakuan dilanjutkan dengan Uji Tukey. hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa kandungan kromium, kandungan unsure N, P dan K dari tiap perlakuan nisbah C/N hasilnya tidak berbeda nyata. Rata-rata kandungan kromium terendah 6,07 ppm dicapai pada perlakuan nisbah C/N 25 unsur, demikian rata-rata kandungan unsur N, P dan K tertinggi dihasilkan dari perlakuan nisbah C/N 25 (P2) yaitu 0,34% N, 0,21% P dan 0,13% K.

Chromium presence in the waste produced by leather processing may generate a serious problem to the environment when it is not treated accordingly. Composting has proven to be one of alternative solution to that matter, sludge waste treatment and even hopefully to make the benefit out of it toward the environment. The experiments on” The Effect Of Composting Toward Chromium Content In The Waste Of Leather Processing In The Industry Of Leather Tanning In Sukaregang Garut” have been conducted using Completely Random Design, with three treatment C/N ratio (20, 25 and 30) with five replication. Result of this experiments indicate that chromium content, together with N, P and K from each different treatment of C/N ratio is non significant. The lowest chromium content (6,07 ppm) result from C/N ratio 25. While the highest N, P and K content resulted from treatment C/N ratio 25 (P2). They are 0,34% N, 0,21% P and 0,13 % K.
