Abstrak

Selenium Pada Tanaman Dan Ternak (Selenium On Crop And Livestock)

Selenium (Se) is one of important micro mineral for livestock. In the fodder crop, Se can be found in the form of Se amino acid together with protein. Se is an integral part of Glutation peroxide (GSH-Px) that has a role as peroxide reducer. Vitamin E reduce the free-radical production while GSH-Px destroy peroxide before reach cell membrane. Vitamin E and Se together build a synergytic work. Se deficiency is closely related with vitamin E deficiency that cause diathersis-exudative on poultry, white muscle disease on ruminant and infertility on cows. The excessive of Se will cause toxit with the sympton on hair loss, appetid loss, nail loss, respiratory disorder and dead caused by starvation and thirstiness.
