V. dahliae is one of the most destructive fungi on many different horticultural crops, including potato, tomato, and pepper. Once this fungus has been introduced to a field, it may cause serious disease and yield loss. Resistant varieties to this fungus are not available in many crops, and this fungus has long survivability in soil without host, and has wide range of hosts. A survey to find out the existence of V. dahliae in the horticultural growing area of Lembang and Jurnal Bionatura, Vol. 5, No. 1, Maret 2003 : 38 : 47 39 Pangalengan districts had been carried out. Soil samples were collected from nine locations of three villages in Lembang District and from 48 locations of 5 villages in Pangalengan District. Isolation was carried out using a dillution method and by spreading the suspension over the surface of PDA and ESA agar media. These were carried out at the Laboratory of Phytopathology, Department of Plant Pests and Phytopathology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran at Jatinangor. Sampling and isolation were carried out twice. However, of all samples processed, V. dahliae was not detected at all.
